When you walk around the SSR some things tend to stand out. Whether they are just scenic overlooks or places to hunt, they all offer their own appeal. Beauty as they say is in the eye of the beholder. Some would say this area of Texas is dry and unforgiving. Well they would be right. It is hot in the summer and cold in the winter. That is when there is a winter. It hardly ever rains and when it does it does not stop till everything is flooded.

People and animals that live in this hostile environment are tough creatures to say the least. With all this said, this piece of country does offer it own rugged beauty.

WHEN THE RAINS COME

It does not rain often at the SSR. When it does both beauty and danger come to light. As fast as the water comes up it will also go back down. For a short time though the lands accepts the gift of water from God!

RIFLE RANGE

How many places have their own 600+ yard rifle range.  This has been confirmed with a laser range finder.  It also makes for a great hunting spot. You can sit on top of the hill and watch as every animal in the area crosses this private trail.

Rifle Range. From this point looking towards the end of the road it is 630 yards.
